CALL FOR ENTRIES: 2006 Watercolor Society of North Carolina (WSNC) 61st Juried Exhibition, Oct 8 -Dec 27, Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, Rocky Mount. Open to any watermedia artist over the age 18 who is a resident of North Carolina and a current member of WSNC. You may become a current member by sending a $30 check for membership along with entry. This is a statewide competitive exhibition established to recognize and advance the professional and artistic excellence of watermedia artists in North Carolina. CALL FOR ACTORS: Auditions for outdoor summer theatres will take place on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill, Sat, Mar 18, college students and older.Ten to fifteen shows and theatres (including The Lost Colony, Unto These Hills, Horn In the West, and several non-NC shows) will be represented. The national headquarters of the Institute of Outdoor Drama is a department of UNC. Summer theatre is an excellent laboratory for the young adult or not-so-young adult who wants to spend a different kind of summer. Pay is minimal, personal contacts are close. CALL FOR STUDENT MUSICIANS: Festival of Music Annual Young Artists' Recital applications available from area teachers and band directors or through Joyce O'Neal at [email protected] Deadline for applications is Apr 1. 25 positions available for Statesville area high school musicians (classes 2006-10) and college students studying music, whether or not music majors. Statesville recital scheduled for 2:00 pm, June 11.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: 26th Annual July National Exhibition (juried), sponsored by Associated Artists of Southport (AAS) will be held at the Franklin Square Gallery, 130 E. West Street, Southport, NC Jun 19-Jul 22. Awards totaling more than $6,000 in cash, merchandise and guaranteed purchase awards. All work must be for sale. CALL FOR ENTRIES: Mooresville Artist Guild 28th Annual Spring ArtFest, May 5-28. Four categories: Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, all other 2-dimensional works, 3-dimensional works. $200 1st place and $100 2nd place prizes awarded in each category plus $500 Best of Show. Artists 18 or older may submit up to total of 3 entries completed after January 1, 2003 and not entered in any previously judged MAG show. Entry fee $25 MAG members, $35 non-members. Entries must be hand-delivered to Depot Visual Arts Center, 103 W. Center Ave., Mooresville on April 20-23 or 27-30 between 1-4 pm. CALL FOR WRITERS: Crucible Poetry and Fiction Competition, sponsored by Barton College. Three copies of manuscript entries must be submitted by May 1. Artists Guild of Statesville presents FREE instructional programs the third Thursday of each month (except July and August) as part of their monthly meetings. CLASSES: Adult painting in oils or acrylics, 9:30-Noon, Wednesdays, Hiddenite Center, Hiddenite. Individualized instruction for all levels. Students provide own materials. Tuition for six-week session is $20 to members of the Hiddenite Center and $25 for nonmembers

OPEN STUDIO: Pottery, 7-9 PM, Tuesdays (any level of potter), Hiddenite Center, Hiddenite. Questions can be answered by experienced potters and sculptors while potters work on own project. Tools provided. Clay can be purchased on site for $10 per 25 lbs. Studio cost: $5 per visit.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Children's Art Classes, available year round for Iredell County children who cannot afford fees and supplies. Application available at or at the Visual Arts Depot, 103 W. Center Av., Mooresville.
