REGIONAL ARTIST PROJECT GRANT PROGRAM: Alternate disciplines every year. Visual Artists and Filmmakers are eligible to apply for the upcoming 2010 deadline. PUBLIC ART PROJECTS: The North Carolina Arts Council seeks to commission artists for two park-sited public art projects, each of which will become a centerpiece of cultural tourism trails celebrating the state’s rich history, creative heritage and contemporary artistic practices. The first public art project is for North Carolina’s African American Music Trail at
All-America City Park in Kinston. The second is for North Carolina’s Historic Happy Valley Byway on the Yadkin River Greenway Trail in Patterson. Applicant artists must be U.S. citizens or legal residents aged 18 years or older. Artists may apply to both RFQs, but they must submit two separate application packages. Deadline: September 7. BLACK WALNUT FESTIVAL: The Town of Bethania and Historic Bethania Visitor Center invite artists to participate in a festival of traditional arts, crafts & music celebrating Bethania's culture, history and landscape on Saturday, September 25 from 10-4 pm. CLICK HERE to download registration form.

CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS: Mooresville Artist Guild will host their annual Artoberfest at The Visual Art Depot, 103 W. Center Ave, Mooresville. The judged show, which offers cash awards & ribbons, is open to all area artists. Entry take-in Sept. 25-26. Details: www.magart.org or 704-663-6661.

CALL FOR CHAMBER MUSIC PROPOSALS: The Raleigh Chamber Music Guild and the North Carolina Museum of Art invite proposals for the 2011-12 acclaimed chamber music concert series featuring North Carolina-based ensembles in programs reflecting exhibitions or the permanent collection at the Museum. All instrumental & vocal combinations from groups across the state are encouraged along with other genres that can be classified as "chamber music." Application deadline: October 15.

DURHAM FILM FESTIVAL: The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is accepting submissions for the 14th annual festival to be held Thursday, April 14, through Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Durham. Short and feature documentaries completed after Jan. 1, 2009, are eligible for consideration.  Entry fee applies awarded to an unfinished or work-in-progress documentary from an emerging filmmaker.
